Driving & Parking Directions
- The Law Library is located on the 24th floor of the Courts Tower
in the Hennepin County Government Center. The Government
Center is located between 3rd and 4th Avenues South on South 6th
Street.
- There is no free parking available in downtown Minneapolis
during the Law Library's hours. Parking ramp charges vary
depending on the time of day and the location of the ramp, but be
prepared to pay between $1 and $5 per hour. The
Law Library cannot validate parking.
- Many public transit routes serve downtown Minneapolis. Call (612)

- From the North:
- Take I-694 West to I-94 East.
- Exit I-94 at the 4th/7th St. exit.
- Follow 4th St. to 3rd Ave. Turn right on 3rd Ave.
- Proceed on 3rd Ave. to 6th St. Turn left on 6th St. You
will pass under the Government Center.
- Parking: Just after crossing 4th Ave.,
turn left into parking ramp. The ramp is one block east of
the Government Center.

- From the Northeast:
- Take I-35W South to Washington Ave. exit. Turn right (west)
onto Washington Ave.
- Proceed west on Washington until you reach Portland Ave.
Turn left (south) onto Portland Ave.
- Drive 3 blocks on Portland to 5th St. Turn right (west) on
5th St. Government Center is on left between 4th Ave. and 3rd Ave.
- Parking: There are two public ramps
between 4th Ave. and 5th Ave. on 5th St., one block east of the
Government Center. Enter from the far left lane of 5th St.
- From the East:
- Take I-94 West to 5th St. exit.
- Continue west on 5th St. as it curves along the South side of
the Metrodome. Government Center is on left between 4th Ave. and
3rd Ave.
- Parking: There are two public ramps
between 4th Ave. and 5th Ave. on 5th St., one block east of
Government Center. Enter from the far left lane of 5th St.
- From the South:
- Take I-35W North to 5th Ave. exit.
- The first cross street at the end of the exit ramp is 10th St.
-- continue on 5th Ave. four blocks to 6th St. You are two
blocks east of the Government Center.
- Parking: Just after you cross 6th St. on
5th Ave., turn left into the Government Center parking ramp. The
ramp is one block east of the Government Center.
- From the West:
- Take I-394 East to North 6th St. exit. Be careful to
follow the signs for 6th St. or you will end up in one of the
Target Center parking ramps.
- At the stoplight at the end of the exit ramp, go straight. You
will be on 6th St.
- Follow 6th St. for about 6 blocks. You will pass under the
Government Center between 3rd Ave. and 4th Ave.
- Parking: Be in the left lane by the time
you pass under the Government Center. Just after you cross
4th Ave., turn left into the parking ramp. The ramp is one block
east of the Government Center.
