Reference

There are three options for receiving reference assistance from the HCLL:

• Call the Law Library during normal business hours at (612) 348-3022.
• Come to the Reference Desk in person during normal business hours.
• Complete a quick-and-easy online form and receive a response via e-mail within one business day.

Reference service includes assistance in using the online catalog and periodical indexes, locating relevant statutes, regulations, and forms, verifying citations, and referral to appropriate government agencies or other organizations. The reference staff is unable to perform services that might constitute the unauthorized practice of law, such as locating relevant cases, interpreting statutes, or advising users concerning their legal rights.
